🎨 George Gittoes
Artist and filmmaker George Gittoes lived in Bundeena for many years, establishing a base for work that often addressed conflict and its human consequences. The Australian War Memorial records Bundeena as the place where he made The problem of gender in 1994–95, following his experience of Australian peacekeeping operations in Somalia. His local studio was thus connected with events far beyond the village. Paintings confronting the violence and uncertainty of war took shape in a small settlement beside the Royal National Park.
